Description

Aconitum cammarum ‘Bicolor’ is a unique summer-blooming monkshood that adds a special touch to the garden. In Zone 5, it begins to flower in mid-to-late August, just when other plants start winding down. Adaptable to both full sun and deep shade, it’s a versatile addition to nearly any garden setting. In full sun, Aconitum ‘Bicolor’ grows more compactly, with tighter spacing between blooms. In shade, it tends to grow taller and more spaced out, with weaker stems that benefit from staking in both conditions, especially in shade. Its striking blue-and-white flowers add a pop of color in shaded areas. While Aconitum is known to be highly toxic due to alkaloids such as aconite and aconitine, concerns are often overstated. Handling the plant is generally safe, though gloves are recommended as a precaution. Most toxicity reports are linked to ingestion of the plant or its extracts, with higher concentrations of toxins found in the roots, not from mere skin contact.

Toxic to humans, dogs and cats when digested.

- Depth is measurement of space between the soil line and top of bulb or bare root.

- Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.

- Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
